Agonis flexuosa
(Willd.) SweetTree or shrub to 10 m high; branchlets often flexuose, usually glabrescent. Leaves pendulous, narrowly elliptic or narrowly ovate, sometimes falcate, 1.8–13.5 cm long, 3.5–12 mm wide, sometimes slightly twisted, glabrous, sometimes sericeous, apex acute, margins ± entire. Flowers in small clusters, c. 8–12 mm diam.; hypanthium 1.5–2 mm long, sericeous near apex; sepals ovate-triangular, 1–2 mm long, greyish-sericeous; petals 3–6 mm long, white (often drying cream); style 1–2.5 mm long; ovary summit glabrous; ovules 5–6 per locule. Fruit broadly turbinate to broadly cup-shaped, 2.5–4 mm diam., sometimes hairy near apex. Flowers Sep.–Dec.
GleP, VVP, GipP, OtP, WaP, CVU, HSF, OtR. Native to south-western Western Australia, commonly grown as a street tree or as an ornamental, occasionally establishing away from cultivated plants.
2 varieties and several horticultural cultivars. Variety latifolia is distinguished from the nominate variety by its smaller (less than 4.5 cm long), often twisted leaves, few (15–20) stamens, and smaller, usually shrubby habit. The majority of cultivated forms are attributable to A. flexuosa var. flexuosa.
