2 subspecies, only the typical subspecies in Victoria.
Relatively restricted in Victoria, but widespread throughout eastern Australia. Eucalyptus sideroxylon subsp. sideroxylon is distinguished from E. sideroxylon subsp. improcera A.R.Bean by its relatively longer and narrower leaves and shorter buds. Eucalyptus sideroxylon subsp. improcera is a small stunted tree restricted to inland Queensland. See subspecies profile for description.
