Histiopteris
Rhizome creeping, coarse, covered in scales. Lamina membranous, pinnate, with ultimate segments more than 8 mm broad, generally pale to blue-green. Rachises slightly flattened at junctions, grooved; veins in pinnules forking several times, mostly free but some forming areoles which lack included veinlets. Sori linear, marginal; sporangia protected by recurved lamina margin only (inner indusium absent); sporangia borne on continuous submarginal vein; spores bilaterally symmetrical.
About 8 species from tropics and temperate countries; 1 in Australia.
