Upper stems with erect glandular and non-glandular hairs. Leaves linear to narrowly ovate, 2–7 mm wide, margins with widely spaced, coarse serrations. Flowers usually purplish-pink. Flowers mainly Nov.–Mar.

Also WA, SA, Qld, NSW (including Lord Howe Is.), ACT, Tas. New Zealand. Widespread throughout much of Victoria, mostly in the lowlands, but ascending to montane areas where occasionally found on dry rocky slopes.
