Daviesia buxifolia
Benth. Box-leaf Bitter-peaOpen shrub to 2 m tall; branches often weeping, glabrous; branchlets angular-terete, ribbed. Phyllodes ovate to orbicular, 3–30 mm long, 3–20 mm wide, bright to dark green, glossy, margins minutely crenate, apex rounded, obtuse or rarely acute, base cordate or truncate, articulate, subsessile; midrib prominent, venation pinnate. Inflorescences 1–2 per axil, subcorymbose, 4–7-flowered, rachis usually 3–15 mm long; peduncle 5–10 mm long; pedicels 2–6 mm long, subtended by a narrowly oblong appressed bract c. 1 mm long. Calyx 3–5 mm long including 1–1.5 mm receptacle, upper 2 teeth united into a nearly entire lip; corolla mostly yellow or orange-yellow; standard broadly obovate, c. 6.5 mm long, c. 6.5 mm wide, yellow or orange-yellow with a maroon-brown marking. Pod obliquely broad-triangular, 6–9 mm long, 4–6 mm wide; seeds obloid, c. 3.5 mm long. Flowers mainly Sep.–Nov.
GipP, CVU, NIS, EGL, EGU, HSF, HNF, VAlp. Also NSW. Scattered in mountainous country of eastern Victoria, usually in dry sclerophyll forests on poor skeletal or clay soils.
Possible hybrids with D. latifolia and D. mimosoides subsp. mimosoides have been observed at a few sites in Victoria.
