Tristaniopsis laurina
(Sm.) Peter G.Wilson & J.T.Waterh. KanookaSpreading shrub to erect tree, 2–30 m high; bark pale-brown, papery, shedding in strips. Leaves oblanceolate to narrowly oblanceolate, usually 6.5–12 cm long, 7–30 mm wide, dark green and glabrous above, paler and pilose below; apex acute; petiole 3–8 mm long. Inflorescence a 7–15-flowered dichasium. Flowers yellow, c. 15 mm diam.; sepals brown, triangular, c. 1 mm long; petals obovate, 4–5 mm long, 3–4 mm wide; stamens mostly 12–20 per fascicle, shorter than petals. Fruit smooth, cup-shaped, 6–10 mm long, 4–6 mm diam., unribbed, splitting only to hypanthium; seeds winged, 5–6 mm long. Flowers Dec.–Feb.
GipP, EGL, EGU, HSF, HFE. Also Qld, NSW. Confined in Victoria to rocky shores and alluvial terraces of East Gippsland creeks and rivers, varying from a much-branched shrub of riparian scrubs to an erect canopy species of warm-temperate rainforest.
Previous authors (e.g. Willis 1973) have included Tristaniopsis laurina within a more broadly circumscribed Tristania.
