Tetragonia fruticosa L. from South Africa previously grew at Coode Island near the mouth of the Yarra River between 1908 and 1911 but has not been seen there or anywhere else in the State since. It is a non-succulent-leaved perennial with spicate inflorescences produced on erect or suberect, woody branches, and pedicellate flowers having numerous anthers and fruits (to 2 cm long) with prominent wings.
