Tree to 20 m tall. Juvenile leaves orbicular to broadly ovate, to 10 cm long, 8 cm wide; adult leaves 6–9 cm long, 2.5–7 cm wide, somewhat glossy, light green. Buds to 0.6 cm long, 0.3 cm diam., pedicles to 6 mm long. Fruits obconical to funnel-shaped, 0.6–0.7 cm long, 0.4–0.6 cm diam. Flowers Nov.–Dec.
GipP, CVU, EGL, EGU, HSF. Also NSW. Occurs from Heyfield eastwards. Usually a broad-crowned tree of gullies and creek flats, usually in subcoastal and coastal forests on relatively fertile soils.
