Procumbent shrub; stems to 35 cm long, intricate, reddish, rooting at nodes. Leaves linear-terete, 8–20 mm long, imbricate, apiculate at apex, often spurred at base, reddish or glaucous. Inflorescence a terminal cyme, somewhat globular, branches often drooping, up to c. 6 cm long. Flowers c. 12 mm diam., subsessile or pedicellate; sepals lanceolate, 3–4 mm long; petals linear-lanceolate, 6–7 mm long, acute to acuminate, usually bright yellow; stamens 10–14. Follicles 4.5–6 mm long, erect, yellow. Flowers Dec.–Feb.
VVP, CVU, VAlp. Native to Europe, recorded in Victoria near Clunes and Gellibrand Hill, plants apparently escaped from nearby gardens or established from dumped garden refuse.
