Tufted annuals to 45 cm high. Roots fibrous. Leaves erect, flat to channelled, 2–30 cm long, 4–16 mm wide at base. Inflorescence erect, several–many per plant; scape 1–3 mm diam. at base; flowers yellow; perianth segments 4.0–5.5 mm long, fused at base for c. 2 mm; stamens shorter than perianth segments, unequal, inner stamens almost double the length of outer, anthers gold; filaments bearded towards apex. Capsule globose to obovoid, 4–9 mm long; seeds ridged, winged, 3–4 mm long. Flowers Aug.–Nov.
MuM, MSB, MuF. Also WA, NT, SA, Qld, NSW. In Victoria plants are largely restricted to floodplains and sandy rises west of Mildura in the far north-west corner of Victoria.
