Senecio lageniformis
I.Thomps.Erect or ascending perennial herb, to 40 cm high; aerial stems renewed annually from a short rhizome, ± glabrous or transiently sparsely cottony. Leaves not dissected with irregularly denticulate or dentate margins, both surfaces glabrous or minutely scabridulous; mid-stem leaves usually pseudopetiolate, attenuate at base, oblanceolate, 4–8(–10) cm long, 3–15 mm wide; upper leaves very narrow-elliptic to narrow-linear, sometimes with small, entire auricles at base. Inflorescence corymbose, usually with 5–40 capitula; capitula non-radiate; involucre cylindric to narrowly campanulate, 6.0–8.0 mm long, glabrous, or sparsely cobwebbed near base; bracts 12–14; bracteoles present; florets 25–60, bisexual and female. Cypselas lageniform, 3.5–4.5 mm long, mid-brown to dark red-brown, papillose-hairy in lines; pappus of slender hairs 5–6 mm long, deciduous. Flowers summer–autumn.
EGU, HNF, VAlp. Also NSW. In Victoria known from grasslands of the eastern ranges (Nunniong Plateau, Cowombat Plain and environs).
