Plants to 50 cm tall. Roots with fusiform tubers. Leaves mostly 5–8.5 mm wide. Inflorescence few-branched, branches ascending. Flowers with perianth segments more than 5 mm long, pale to dark blue with darker nerves. Stamen filaments blue with white bands.

Flowers mainly summer.
