Passiflora
Leaves usually lobed; margin entire or variously toothed; petiole with or without glands; stipules 2. Flowers single (sometimes 2), usually with a simple tendril, often showy; sepals mostly free, fleshy or membranous; petals membranous, alternate with sepals, sometimes absent; corona of 1–several series of threads, free or united, mostly with a flat, membranous inner corona; stamens free in upper part, anthers linear, ovate or oblong; ovary globose to fusiform, stalk often extending beyond the level of fusion with stamens, stigmas capitate. Berry globose to ovate, containing mucilaginous pulp.
About 370 species with only 20 from the Indo-Australian-western Pacific region; 12 species in Australia (3 native); 1 species native to Victoria and 3 introduced.
