Erect or ascending annual herb to 40 cm tall, glabrous or sparsely hairy. Petiole to 3 cm long; leaflets obovate, 8–30 mm long, 4–15 mm wide, apices rounded or emarginate; stipules ovate, 3–10 mm long, dentate at base. Inflorescence 1.5–4 cm long, mostly shorter than subtending leaves; peduncle 3–15 mm long. Flowers 2–12; pedicels c. 1 mm long; calyx 2–3 mm long, 10-veined, teeth about equal to tube; corolla 4–5 mm long, yellow; standard longest; wings shorter than keel. Pod ovoid, 5–8 mm long, prominently marked with many closely concentric ridges, sharply acute, yellowish-brown; seeds 1 or 2, ovoid, 2.5–4 mm long, minutely verrucose, brown. Flowers Aug.–Mar.
VVP, GipP, OtP. Also naturalised WA, SA, NSW. Known from a few localities in south-western Victoria where it grows on marshy or seasonally inundated ground and will tolerate salt.
