Micrantheum
Heath-like shrubs, much-branched, monoecious. Leaves in half-whorls of 2–5, usually in 3s, groups alternate, simple, margins entire, coriaceous, shortly petiolate; stipules minute. Flowers axillary, solitary or in small clusters; males shortly pedunculate; females usually subsessile; bracts present. Male flowers with 4 or 6 calyx lobes, inner ones often larger; petals absent; stamens 3, 6 or 9, anthers 2-celled, dehiscing longitudinally; ovary rudimentary, lobed, glandular. Female flowers with perianth similar to males; ovary 2- or 3-celled, ovules 2 per cell, styles 2 or 3, simple, stigmatic along inner face. Fruit a 2- or 3-celled capsule, 3-lobed; seeds 2 per cell, or 1 per cell by abortion, obloid, smooth, caruncle present.
