Dioicous. Asexual reproduction by globose, red to orange rhizoidal tubers. Solitary or open tufts on soil or soil over rock, green. Stems sparsely branched, 10–20 mm long. Rhizoids pale brown to red-brown. Leaves erect-spreading when moist, spirally twisted around stem when dry, narrowly obovate to ovate, 1–3 mm long; apex acuminate; costa excurrent; margin finely serrulate near apex, with a weak border; laminal cells in apical half sublinear, mostly less than 80 μm long; basal laminal cells rectangular. Sporophytes unknown.
VVP, GipP, Gold, DunT, HFE. Known from a few disjunct and varying sites across the southern half of the state encompassing coastal vegetation, rainforest, woodland, and rocky sites. Also QLD and NSW.
