Perennial herb or subshrub; stems to 1.5 m high, usually pilose. Leaves 5-foliate; rachis 5–10 mm long, flattened or narrowly winged; leaflets dimorphic; basal leaflets broadly ovate, 6–25 mm long, 6–18 mm wide, cordate; upper 3 leaflets narrowly obovate, 15–30 mm long, 7–15 mm wide, often pilose below. Inflorescence a dense many-flowered head; peduncle 5–15 mm long, elongating to 60 mm long in fruit; calyx urceolate, 4–5 mm long, pilose, teeth subequal; corolla 5–6 mm long, white, usually tinged pink; stamens diadelphous, filaments not dilated at apex. Pod linear-oblong, 10–12 mm long, c. 2 mm wide, subterete, spirally twisting on dehiscence; seeds subglobose, c. 1.2 mm diam., smooth. Flowers Dec. (1 record).
Gold. Native to the Mediterranean region. In Victoria, known from a single collection from the Castlemaine Botanic Gardens.
