Decumbent to shortly erect or tufted, often stoloniferous perennial, to c. 30 cm high. Branches with articles cylindric to narrowly obovoid, mostly 5–20 mm long. Spikes 1–5 cm long, 3–5 mm diam. in fruit. Flowers 10–18 per false whorl, arranged in a single row. Seed circular, covered with acute, sometimes hooked hairs.
