Callistemon nyallingensis

Low, erect, usually single-stemmed shrub, 0.6–1.2 m high; bark papery, grey. Leaves moderately to densely arranged, broadly linear to lanceolate, often asymmetrical, (2.5–)3–4(–6) cm long, 3–4(–6) mm wide, mucronate, margins thickened, oil glands visible on both leaf surfaces; petiole twisted or straight. Flower spikes usually with leaf-like bracts at the tip, and often some extending below the uppermost flowers, 7–12 cm long, 4–4.6 cm wide; axils glabrous or sparsely hairy at base of hypanthium; hypanthium glabrous or with scattered hairs; stamens 9–12 mm long, filaments purple-red, anthers purple. Capsules c. 4.5–5.5 mm long and wide.  Flowers mainly Nov.–Jan.
