Asperula gunnii

Decumbent or ascending perennial; stems slender, to 20 cm long, scabrous with short recurved hairs. Leaves and stipules subsessile or with a short obscure petiole, c. equal, mostly in whorls of (4–)5–6, obovate, oblanceolate or elliptic, mostly 4–8 mm long and 1–3 mm wide, acute or obtuse, often with a terminal point, surfaces almost glabrous, margins recurved. Inflorescences terminal or axillary cymes, mostly 2- or 3-flowered, shorter or slightly longer than leaves. Corolla c. 3 mm long on male flowers, c. 2 mm long on females, white; corolla-tube slightly longer than lobes. Fruit deeply 2-lobed; mericarps subglobose, 1–2 mm diam., glabrous, black. Flowers Nov.–Feb.
