Hampeella alaris
(Dixon & Sainsbury) SainsburyDioicous. Asexual reproduction by filiform gemmae in upper leaf axils. Tufts on stems, trunks and branches of trees and shrubs, and logs. Stems 10–40 mm long, irregularly branched, with cuspidate branches. Leaves erect, often ±complanate toward apices, otherwise terete-foliate, oblong, symmetric, 1.4–2.8 mm long, 0.35–0.8 mm wide, concave, becoming narrower and less concave near stem apices; apices acute, subtubulous, straight to hooked; costae shortly and faintly double or absent; margins entire throughout or serrate at apex, narrowly recurved to c. mid-leaf to just below apices, without a border; laminal cells linear, 60–96 μm long, c. 5 μm wide, smooth; alar cells quadrate to short-rectangular, 12–35 μm long, 6–18 μm wide, pale yellow to orange-brown. Setae 2–8 mm long, brown, yellowish or red-brown, smooth, not twisted. Capsules erect, cylindric, strongly 8-ribbed, 1–2 mm long, straight, brown. Opercula rostrate from conic base, 0.8–1 mm long.
