Sarcozona
Prostrate to suberect perennial subshrubs. Leaves opposite, connate at base, trigonous to triquetrous, warty or colliculate, the keel sometimes minutely toothed. Flowers terminal, solitary or in 3-flowered cymes, sessile or subsessile, partly enclosed within an involucre of 2 connate, leaf-like bracts; sepals 4 or 5, 2 subopposite and larger than the others which are relatively broad with membranous margins; petaloid staminodes numerous usually in a single series, pink (rarely white); stamens numerous; styles 4 or 5; ovary inferior, 4- or 5-locular; ovules numerous, parietal. Fruit fleshy, indehiscent; seeds ovoid to D-shaped.
