Anthosachne kingiana subsp. multiflora

Weakly tufted perennial. Culms erect or ascending, to c. 80 cm high. Leaves glabrous or with scattered hairy; blades flat or inrolled, lightly scabrous at least on the upper surface, 8–30 cm long and 2–6 mm wide; sheath smooth or scabrous; ligule to 0.6 mm long, scarious; auricles weakly to well-developed, to c. 2 mm long, narrow, at least partially encircling the culm. Inflorescence a spike with usually 5–12 spikelets. Spikelets 6–12-flowered, 16–40 mm long excluding awns; glumes ovate to acuminate, 3–8 mm long, both (4-)5-(6-)nerved, subequal or the upper up to 3 mm longer than lower; rachilla hairs not covering thickened base of lemma callus; callus not thckened at tip, flat or concave on dorsal surface, glabrous or nearly so; lemma rounded dorsally, smooth or finely scabrous, oblong or narrow-lanceolate, 7–12 mm long, shortly mucronate or with a straight awn to 7(–11) mm long; palea about equal to body of lemma.
