Wim, GleP, VVP, VRiv, GipP, OtP, WaP, Gold, CVU, GGr, DunT, NIS, EGL, EGU, WPro, HSF, HNF, OtR, Strz, MonT, VAlp. Also Qld, NSW, SA, Tas. Common from coastal to subalpine regions in heathlands and forests, particularly on alluvial flats or on deep sandy soils near the coast.
A few specimens appear intermediate between this and subsp. exilis where the 2 occur together. Particularly, a number of collections from the Grampians (where subsp. exilis has not been collected.) paradoxically appear intermediate between the two. A rather distinctive entity from the lower reaches of the Gellibrand River in the Otway Range has the bracts below the flower clusters weakly developed or apparently lacking. It may represent a distinct taxon.
