Micromyrtus
Shrubs, 0.3–2.5 m high, erect or spreading, glabrous. Leaves small and narrow, opposite, decussate, more or less trigonous. Inflorescence axillary, of 1–3 flowers on a common peduncle, often clustered terminally, each subtended by a pair of persistent or caducous bracteoles. Flowers bisexual; hypanthium obconical; sepals 5, broad and blunt, membranous or petaloid; petals 5, broadly elliptic to orbicular, free, entire; stamens 5 and opposite petals or 10 (sometimes 12) and opposite sepals and petals; anthers versatile, opening by longitudinal slits, connective gland small, subglobose; ovary inferior, 1-celled; ovules 2–10, collateral; style shortly exserted. Fruit small, dry indehiscent; seed usually solitary.
About 50 species, in southern and central Australia.
