Four subspecies, with one subspecies, A. securifolia subsp. securifolia, in Victoria.

Acrolejeunea securifolia subsp. securifolia differs from the other subspecies by a combination of the lobule being ovate with 2–4 short teeth, the leaves being not or only slightly squarrose, and by usually being autoicous (Gradstein 1975).
