Rhizomes 0.5–3 mm diam.; fibrous bundles in outer and inner cortex. Branches erect or generative, erect branches indeterminate, black, wiry. Leaf sheath 1–6 cm long. Leaves 2–5 per shoot, 3.5–16.0 cm long, 0.5–2.0 mm wide; apex obtuse with distinct V-shaped notch; epidermal cell surface colliculate. Spathes inconspicuous, hidden among leaf clusters, up to 6 per branch. Spadix with 2–5 triangular bracts, each enclosing an anther, 0.5–1.0 mm long. Flowers Sep.–Feb.
