Leptorhynchos nitidulus
DC. Shiny ButtonsPerennial with slender rhizomes, 10–35 cm high; stems usually branched only at base, erect, with or without apressed arachnoid hairs, glabrous towards base. Leaves linear, 1–4 cm long, 1–4 mm wide, basal leaves largest, acute, glabrous to sparsely arachnoid (particularly on lower surface), margins recurved; scarious bracts grading into leaves for c. 2–6 cm below capitula. Capitula hemispherical, 1–1.5 cm diam.; outer involucral bracts sessile or shortly clawed, ovate-orbicular, obtuse to broadly acute, entire, golden; inner bracts similar to outer but with longer, glandular claw; florets yellow. Cypselas narrowed near apex, minutely scabrous-papillose, 1–1.5 mm long; pappus light yellow, bristles numerous, minutely barbellate, 4–5 mm long. Flowers Sep.–Feb.
