Trees to c. 15 m high, freely suckering from roots. Branchlets spreading to drooping, to 38 cm long; internodes 8–20 mm long, c. 1 mm diam., distinctly broader at apex, smooth, sometimes waxy; ribs flat to slightly rounded. Teeth 12–17(–20), erect, long-recurved on young permanent shoots. Male spikes 1.2–4 cm long, 7–10 whorls per cm. Cones on peduncle 3–12 mm long, cylindric, cone body 9–18 mm long, 7–9 mm diam. Winged seeds 3.5–5.0 mm long.
VVP, GipP, OtP, Gold, CVU, DunT. Native to coastal regions of New South Wales and Queensland, grown as an ornamental and sometimes planted for soil stabilisation near creeks and rivers. Naturalised in Victoria, with populations establishing via root suckers from nearby planted parent trees. .
