Two subspecies, only H. spathulata subsp. spathulata in Victoria, subsp. pleioclada occurs in New South Wales. Plants of subsp. spathulata tend to be smaller and especially more densely hairy on the leaves and calyx (even on the inside). Profile provided under subspecies.
