Prasophyllum hygrophilum
D.L.Jones & D.RouseFlowering stem slender to stout, 30–60 cm tall. Leaf-blade 12–20 cm long, 3–5 mm diam. at base, apex suberect, senescent at flowering time. Flowers 12–30, green to greenish brown, pink or mauve, fragrant, in a moderately crowded spike 8–15 cm long; ovary obovoid, 4–5 mm long; sepals 8–12 mm long, dorsal sepal ovate-lanceolate, lateral sepals free, linear-lanceolate, recurved distally, widely divergent; petals linear-lanceolate, 7–10 mm long, spreading widely. Labellum sessile, porrect, 7–9 mm long, recurved at about right angles just beyond middle, lamina usually pink or white, distal margins slightly undulate-crispate; callus plate prominently raised, shallowly channelled, mostly greenish, broad at base then tapered, extending three-quarters of the way to the labellum apex. Column appendages obovate, c. 3 mm long. Flowers Nov.–Dec.
VRiv, Gold. Endemic to Victoria where found in grassy Eucalyptus camaldulensis woodland on heavy clay loam soils prone to inundation.
This species is known with certainty from only two sites in north-central Victoria and is regarded as endangered.
