Leaves 3–8, narrowly oblong-obovate or narrowly elliptic, often asymmetric, usually sickle-shaped, apex acute, base usually tapered, 3–12 cm long, 0.8–1.3 cm wide. Racemes 1–4, semipendulous, c. 5–10 cm long; pedicels (including ovary) 10–17 mm long, subtending bracts broadly ovate; flowers c. 3–5, white or rarely cream, fragrant (like orange blossum). Sepals and petals ovate to obovate, usually slightly concave, apex rounded, base contracted, 1–1.7 cm long, 5–8 mm wide. Labellum 3–6 mm long, lateral lobes oblong, usually orange inside with transverse bright or dark red lines; midlobe erect, fleshy, narrow, c. 1 mm long; spur projected forward with rounded apex, about as long as the lateral lobes are broad; central callus large, split in two by groove; side calli weakly developed. Flowers Sep.–Nov.
EGL, EGU. Also Qld, NSW. Epiphytic on trees (usually on Eucryphia moorei) in far East Gippsland lowland rainforest, but now extremely rare, due to clearing of its habitat for agriculture.
