Tufted perennial to c. 30 cm high. Bulb tunics dark brown. Leaves 10–40 cm long, 1.5–8.0 mm wide, channelled to subterete. Raceme crowded, 2–6 cm long; flowers scented, pendent to patent; corolla of fertile flowers ovoid to oblong-urceolate or cylindric, 3.5–7.5 mm long, blackish-blue with short, white lobes; sterile flowers smaller and paler than fertile flowers. Capsule ovoid to obovoid, 5–10 mm long. Flowers spring.
MuM. Native to Europe, northern Africa and south-western Asia. In Victoria known only from Antwerp, where sparingly established at a cemetery.
